HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A state agency is kicking off a social media campaign to inform Connecticut women about the role they play in the state’s economy.
The Permanent Commission on the Status of Women will launch the “Women, Did You Know,” campaign on Monday. The group plans to send out daily messages with facts about a range of issues affecting women, including financial security and health care.
Teresa Younger, the commission’s executive director, says the goal is to educate women about the issues as Election Day nears.
The social media campaign will culminate with a conference at the Legislative Office Building on Sept. 15. That event is part of a national campaign to advance women’s equality by 2020, the 100th anniversary of the passage of 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.
