Commissioner Capone of East Haven was appointed to the Commission by Sen. Martin Looney. Capone, who served as mayor of East Haven from 2007 to 2011, is the youngest woman ever elected to the office of mayor in Connecticut. In addition to serving as CEO of a municipality with an $85 million budget, Capone, who holds a double B.A. in Music and Sound Engineering and Business Administration, as well as a Master’s in Business Administration from Southern Connecticut State University, is Associate Fellow at Branford College at Yale University and serves as adjunct professor of Political Science at Gateway Community College.
She also serves on the board of Donate Life CT, having become an active advocate for organ donation after she gave a kidney to a stranger. (Both recovered completely and the two have since become friends.)
